The instructions in this section are valid for references to maps. Use this format to cite visual works, but not to reproduce them! To reproduce visual works, permission and/or a copyright attribution may be necessary in addition to the reference (see section Reprinted visual works). When citing a map which is parts of a larger work, the reference information on the specific part of the work cited is given in the in-text citation only (see instructions under Citing part of a work).
If the work has been accessed online, include the URL of the website. When citing dynamically created maps (e.g. Google maps) that change over time, you include a retrieval date in the reference in addition to the URL in the format “Retrieved Month DD, YYYY, from http://xxxx”.
