Covidence is a powerful tool designed to streamline the process of conducting systematic and scoping reviews, essential methods in evidence-based research. You can upload references from most UFH libraries A-Z database list platforms including EBSCO, Emerald, ProQuest, PubMed, and Scopus.
A systematic review is a rigorous and structured approach to synthesizing research evidence, typically focusing on a specific question to identify, evaluate, and summarize the findings of all relevant studies on a topic. This method aims to minimize bias and provide reliable conclusions for informed decision-making.
On the other hand, a scoping review is more exploratory in nature, mapping the breadth and scope of research on a particular topic, identifying key concepts, gaps in the literature, and areas for future investigation. Scoping reviews are particularly useful for emerging fields or complex topics where a comprehensive understanding is needed. Covidence facilitates these reviews by providing a user-friendly platform for screening, data extraction, and collaboration, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the research process.
Currently registered University of Fort Hare students, faculty, and staff can get full access to Covidence without charge.
