EndNote Web: Collect

New reference

To add a new reference:

  • Click on New Reference under the Collect tab
  • Choose the appropriate Reference Type using the drop down menu
  • Fill out the field as required
  • You can place your reference into a group by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the arrow beside Groups:
  • Your reference will be saved automatically

To edit a reference:

  • Click on the reference title
  • Click on the field you wish to edit and make your changes
  • To save the changes click or tab outside that field
  • You can revert your changes by clicking the Revert Reference button.

Direct Export

To use direct export you must install the EndNote Web Plug-in. Select Download Installers under the Options tab and follow the instructions.

The method for using direct export for EndNote Web is the same as for the desktop version.

  • Choose your database and perform your search
  • Select the required references and export
  • At Choose Destination under Export to: select EndNote Web and click OK
  • Complete your EndNote Web Login details if required

Your references will now appear in Unfiled under All My References.  To find your new references use the drop down arrow for Sort by: and click on Added to Library -- newest to oldest.

Online search

You can use the Online Search feature to retrieve records from library catalogues and some databases.

It is possible to create a favourites list by clicking Select Favorites.

  • Click on Online Search under the Collect tab
  • Select the required catalogue or database using the drop down menu
  • Click on Connect
  • Enter your search terms
  • Select retrieve all records or select a range of records to retrieve
  • Click on Search and then Retrieve
  • Tick the required records and choose your group from the drop down menu Add to group... 

Capture

The Capture button will appear in the EndNote Web browser toolbar once the EndNote Web Plug-in has been installed (to install the Plug-in, click on Download Installers under the Options tab and follow the instructions).

Capture will scan the bibliographic information stored on a web page and creates a pre-filled reference.

  • Go to the individual record after conducting your search
  • Click on Capture button.
  • Complete or modify the fields in the new reference window.
  • Click on the Save to button

Exporting from the Curtin Libary Catalogue

For an individual reference:

Perform your search in the catalogue as required

  • When your results are displayed click on Full Record for the required reference
  • At the drop down arrow select EndNote Web then OK
  • Primo Imports Results - Number of records imported: # will appear
  • Go into the My References tab and your records will appear under unfiled
  • Add to Groups as required

For several references:

  • Save the required references to your e-Shelf by clicking on the star or, if you want the whole page, click on Add page to e-Shelf (end of facets column)
  • Go into your e-Shelf and select your records as required from your e-Shelf basket
  • Have selected then GO and OK
  • You may need to log in your EndNote Web account
  • Primo Imports Results - Number of records imported: # will appear
  • Go into the My References tab and your records will appear under unfiled
  • Add to Groups as required

Import references

Use this option when Direct Export is not available.

To import a reference from a database using a filter:

  • From the Collect tab, click on Import References
  • At file: click on Browse... to navigate to the file saved as a .txt file from the database
  • At Import Option select the database filter
  • Select a group to assign the imported references
  • Click on Import
